ELKHART – William L. Slankard, 76, of Warsaw, died at 1:14 p.m. March 14, 2012, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
He was born Sept. 3, 1935, in Grantsburg, Ill., to William F. and Ona A. Shipley Slankard. On June 4, 1993, in Warsaw, he married Kay A. Christenberry, who survives.
He retired from truck driving in 1997. He was a member of Garfield Masonic Lodge 569 F& AM, Hammond.
Also surviving are a son, William J. (and spouse Lisa) Slankard, Arlington Heights, Ill.; two daughters, Sandy (and spouse Dave) Schultz, Los Angeles, Calif., and Robin (and spouse Rob) Shinabarger, Milford; two stepdaughters, Kelly (and spouse Travis) Beasley, Columbia City, and Tricia Cavender, Fort Wayne; six grandchildren; and a great-grandson. He was preceded in death by two sisters.
Cremation will take place at Elkhart Cremation Services and a private service will be at a later date.
Elkhart Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.
