William Joshua ‘Bill’ Becker Jr.William Joshua “Bill” Becker Jr., of Warsaw, passed away unexpectedly at 10:48 p.m. on Monday, March 30, 2020, at Kosciusko Community Hospital of Warsaw at the age of 61.
He was born on July 18, 1958, in South Bend, to Marilyn Michaels Becker and William Joshua Becker Sr. On May 30, 1992, he was married to Deborah “Debby” Tilley Becker.
Bill was a 1977 graduate of Penn High School in Mishawaka and had been a resident of Kosciusko County for the past 20 years. He worked for many years at American Cargo in Goshen, and his family owned several McDonald’s restaurants. He had worked as the manager at the Petoskey, Mich., location for several years before moving to Warsaw.
Bill loved his children and always made time for them. He enjoyed being a Cub Scout and Boy Scout Leader and was actively involved in Junior Achievement. One of Bill’s special passions was mentoring kids to become successful adults through his job at McDonald’s and through the Scouts. His purpose was to inspire and prepare young people to succeed and he did just that by being a source of encouragement, consistent mentorship and making himself accessible.
He loved blue and gold … a super Notre Dame fan. So much so that he volunteered many hours being an usher in the 1990s at Notre Dame, as well as being a lifelong Notre Dame memorabilia collector. A big influencer in his love of everything Notre Dame was that his grandfather had played football there in the 1930s. Another of Bill’s hobbies was restoring old cars and simply enjoying the beauty and artistry of all old cars. More than anything he just loved his family, they were his number one priority … he will be dearly missed.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 27 years, Debby Becker, Warsaw; two sons: Randall (Allison) Becker, San Jose, Calif.; Adamson Becker, Warsaw; and his daughter, Michelle Morris, Los Angeles. Also surviving is his grandson, Hank Becker; father, William Joshua Becker Sr., South Bend; brother, Mark (Alicia) Becker, Mishawaka; and two sisters: Beth (Mike) McHugh, Greenwood; Carolyn (Don) Oblinger, Mount Pleasant, Mich.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn Becker.
Bill’s life will be celebrated with a private family viewing and service at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, and officiated by Bill Crane. A celebration of life event will happen at a later date.
