William Harold Hassenplug, 78, of West Lafayette, and formerly of this area, died July 17, 2009, at Indiana Veterans' Home, West Lafayette.
He was born June 17, 1931, in Argos, to Obed Buehler and Leora Shafer Hassenplug Fiske.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in October 1950, and served until July 1954. He was a second class engineman. A graduate of Purdue University, he earned a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering. He was self-employed at All Duplicating Services copy shop, West Lafayette, for 19 years. He also had worked at Honeywell and Bendix. He was a member of the Escapees RV Club and spent winters in Donna, Texas, and many summers in Warsaw.
Surviving are his children, Daniel (and spouse Cathy) Hassenplug, Kewanna; Bunnie (and spouse Bruce) Cleland, Chesapeake, Va.; and Steve (and spouse Heather) Hassenplug, West Lafayette; and a sister, Gretta Felabom, Warsaw.
