NORTH MANCHESTER - William H. "Bill" Poston, 82, of North Manchester, died at 9:50 p.m. Aug. 10, 2008, in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.

He was born July 18, 1926, in Niles, Mich., to Walter M. and Thelma Olinger Poston. On June 6, 1948, he married Iona D. Shaffer, who survives.

A barber for 50 years, he operated O.K. Barber Shop, North Manchester. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944-46, and was a member of Congregational Christian Church, North Manchester; American Legion; Veterans of Foreign Wars; Masonic Lodge Deming 88; and Disabled American Veterans, North Manchester.

Also surviving are two sons, Michael (and spouse Bonnie) Poston, Clemmons, N.C., and Kim A. "Louie" (and spouse Rida) Poston, Cullman, Ala.; two daughters, Deborah Dee Young, Fort Wayne, and Diana Lee (and spouse Ken) Lybarger, North Manchester; two sisters, Betty Shannon, Everston, Wash., and Jean Baccellia, Sedona, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.

Calling is from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
