William Eugene Outcalt, 90, of Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake, died at 3:43 a.m. April 3, 2010, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.

He was born May 11, 1919, in Wells County, to Jesse Harrison and Cora Blanche Crain Outcalt. On Nov. 20, 1948, in Angola, he married Mary Esther Wilfong, who died July 17, 2006.

A Kosciusko County resident since 1952, he was a mechanical engineer, retiring after 42 years with Gatke Corp., Warsaw. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Marines. He was honorably discharged Jan. 8, 1946. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and American Legion Post 49, both in Warsaw.

Surviving are a son, Jerry (and spouse Christine) McCormick, Las Vegas, Nev.; five grandchildren, Melissa Conley, Grafton, Wis., and Debra, Tonya, Theresa and Christopher; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Banghart, who died in 2003, and a brother.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, with Pastor Layne Sumner officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, with military rites by members of the American Legion Post 49 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1126, both in Warsaw.

Calling is from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
