FORT WAYNE – William E. Woenker, 80, passed away Dec. 17, 2013, in The Towne House Retirement Center, Fort Wayne.
He was born in Fort Wayne to Barney and Irene Woenker. He was married to Agnes A. Woenker, who preceded him in death.
He and his wife co-founded Chematics Inc. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ege, Ind., and an avid Purdue Boilermaker fan. He was an entrepreneur, always thinking of ways to make things more interesting.
Surviving are four sons: Timothy (and spouse Tena) Woenker, and Edward Woenker, all of Fort Wayne; Paul (and spouse Susan) Woenker, Cary, Ill.; and John “Hans” (and spouse Jennifer) Woenker, New Haven; two daughters, Julie (and spouse Mark) Lazerwitz, Valparaiso, and Mary Anne (and spouse Paul) Bower, West Lafayette; 16 grandchildren; and two brothers, Bernard Woenker, Huntington, and John (and spouse Pat) Woenker, Angola. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James Woenker; a daughter, Laura Thomas; and a grandson, John Robert Woenker.
A Mass of Christian burial is at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Peter Catholic Church, with Friar Phillip A. Widmann officiating. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
Calling is one hour prior to the mass Monday and from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Avenue.
