William E. 'Jack' Caudill

AKRON – William E. “Jack” Caudill, 89, of 2072 W. CR 1200S, Silver Lake, died at 8:52 p.m. March 24, 2013, in his residence.
He was born Feb. 6, 1924, in Leander, Ky., to James W. and Bessie  Carpenter Caudill. On June 10, 1942, he married Goldia Lena Caudill, who died March 22, 2000.
He formerly worked at Pierceton Trucking, Laketon, and had owned Manchester Lanes, North Manchester. He taught school in Kentucky after his military service.
He graduated from high school and college in Kentucky. He was a World War II Navy veteran, serving on the USS Benevolence Medical Ship. He was on the first ship to Japan when the war was over. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, North Manchester. He enjoyed gold mining.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda Sue Butler, Hartzel, Colo., and Sharon (and spouse Leonard) Walton, Nancy, Ky.; two sons, David (and spouse Kay) Caudill, Warsaw, and Jackie Caudill (and fiancé Pam Craig), Akron; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mayme Alice Chapman, Chesapeake, W.Va., and Lucy Rank, Lafayette. He also was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron, with Chaplain Joe Stark officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Lake, with graveside military rites.
Calling is from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
