William “Bill” Tinkey, 87, formerly of Warsaw, passed away at midnight Sept. 30, 2015, in his residence at Hubbard Hill Retirement Community in Elkhart. He was born Sept. 11, 1928, in Warsaw, to Noah and Ina Gearhart Tinkey. On Sept. 5, 1969, he married Evelyn Jane Creighton Barker who preceded him in death Nov. 15, 2012. He was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, where he was a longtime member of Otterbein United Methodist Church in Atwood, and a former member and past president of Atwood Lions Club. He was a retired farmer in Warsaw and Kosciusko County. He also enlisted in the U.S. Army on Jan. 2, 1951, and served until his honorable discharge in January 1953. Survivors are: his three sons: Terry (and spouse Carolyn) Barker, Fishers; Lee (and spouse Pamela) Barker, Elkhart; Karl (and spouse Cindy) Barker, Leesburg; two daughters, Debra (and spouse James) Caton, Osceola; and Diana (and spouse Mark, Osborn, Elkhart; his daughter-in-law; Melody Barker, Warsaw; 17 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; one brother, Jerry (and spouse Sandy) Tinkey, Warsaw; and his sister: Beverly (and spouse Andy) Hoffer, Warsaw. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two sons, DeWayne and Neil Barker, a brother, Max Tinkey, and his two sisters Dorothy Adams and Marilyn Tinkey. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, with Pastor Bud Walter officiating. Burial is in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, with military rites conducted by the American Legion Post 49 and VFW 1126, both of Warsaw and active members of Army Honor Guard.
