ELKHART – Willard G. “Doc” Secaur, 97, of Elkhart, passed away at 11:20 p.m. Feb. 24, 2013, at Greenleaf Health Campus.
He was born Sept. 11, 1915, in Wilshire, Ohio, to William and Christina Kern Secaur. On Aug. 28, 1937, in Crawfordsville, he married Irene H. Anderson, who died April 18, 1999, in Elkhart. On June 24, 2006, in LaGrange, he married Ruth L. Bolin Mead, who survives.
He loved music and enjoyed playing the bass horn and viol. He also enjoyed playing golf and fishing and was a handyman who could fix anything. He was a charter member of Elkhart Grace Brethren Church and helped to build three of their churches. He worked for 11 years at Miles (now Bayer) and for 20 years at Sears. After his retirement he worked part time for Don’s Printing.
Also surviving are four children: Marna (and spouse Harold) McDaniel, Apopka, Fla.; Millicent Trulli, Denver, Colo.; Cheryl Cappelletti, Elkhart; and Jeffrey (and spouse Emiline) Secaur, Warsaw; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home, 700 E. Jackson Blvd., Elkhart, officiated by Pastor Mike Ostrander of Elkhart Grace Brethren Church. Burial will be in Prairie Street Cemetery.
Calling is from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
