Students at Pierceton Elementary were enlightened about wildlife Nov. 8 by Larry Battson from Wildlife Educational Services in Greencastle. The students we able to see firsthand a lemur, an Alaskan wolf, a red tailed baboon, a baby alligator and the python, which is pictured with Ethan Cassidy holding him. Battson relayed many facts to the students about the animals’ eating habits, how and when it determines to hunt, how the wolf chooses to follow a trail and how and where the animals he has were rescued. He also told students of the important part in the world each of the animals play. Everyone came away with a better understanding of animals in the wild. Battson and his wife, Cheryl, have been doing educational programs for 22 years. Over the years he has shared many different animals with students at Pierceton Elementary and other surrounding schools.
