Wildcats Remain Unbeaten In TRC, Leading Off Roundup

SOUTH WHITLEY — Winning its fourth-straight game, the Whitko football team remains one of two unbeatens in the Three Rivers Conference. Defeating Northfield 34-20 at home, Whitko (4-2, 4-0 TRC) remains in a first-place tie with Rochester, who improved to 4-0 following a 48-7 win over Manchester Friday. In their homecoming victory, Whitko amassed 420 rushing yards on 51 carries, led by Tanner Hughes’ 202 yards and three touchdowns. Quarterback Ethan Nicodemus also ran the ball nine times, tallying 63 yards and two touchdowns. Trailing 20-7 early in the third quarter, the Wildcats ended the game with 27 unanswered points. The Tippecanoe Valley football team had little trouble with the visiting Wabash Apaches Friday, winning 62-20. Quarterback Ben Shriver finished the game with 184 passing yards and three scores, while also rushing for another touchdown. On the ground, Nolan Sponseller ran for 109 yards and three touchdowns, while also recording and interception return for a score. The win improves the Vikings to 3-3 overall and 3-1 in the Three Rivers Conference. Up next for Valley is its rivalry game at Rochester.
