KENDALLVILLE — The Whitko boys golf team finished fifth at Friday’s East Noble Sectional, ending its season as only the top three team advance to regionals. Homestead won the tournament with a 292 on Noble Hawk Golf Club’s par-71 course, while Carroll (305) finished second and DeKalb (316) placed third. East Noble placed fourth with a 320, while Whitko’s 325 put the Wildcats in fifth place. East Noble’s Michael Sharp had the lowest score of the day with a two-under 69, while Fremont’s Nick Herndon (69) and Garrett’s Bennett Rieke (71) rounded out the top three individuals who advanced without a team. The qualifying teams, as well as top three individuals without at a qualifying team advance to the Homestead Regional Thursday at Orchard Ridge Country Club in Fort Wayne. Competition begins at 8 a.m. Thursday.
