MARION — The 23rd-ranked Whitko boys cross country finished second at Saturday’s Marion Regional, advancing it on to this Saturday’s New Haven Semistate. Running at Indiana Wesleyan University, the 14th-ranked Homestead Spartans finished first with 51 points, while Whitko scored 77 and South Adams placed third with 78. Those teams, along with Eastbrook, Huntington North and Norwell, will all be at the New Haven Semistate, which will be held on the campus of IPFW at 1 p.m. Individually, Eastbrook’s Joshua Neideck finished first in 16:06, followed by Homestead’s Max Silcox (16:11) and South Adams’ Evan Leichty (16:16), who rounded out the top three. Whitko’s top finisher was senior Dylan Cozad, who finished ninth in 16:35, while senior Brody Wilson was 12th (16:38), senior Jude Stieglitz was 15th (16:40), senior Dallas Asher was 20th (17:08), senior Trapper Mize was 21st (17:15), freshman Derek Miller was 39th (17:47) and senior Dylan Cozad was 67th (19:44). Saturday in Culver Competing in the Culver Academies Regional Saturday, Manchester freshman Matthew Fahs-Brown, Manchester junior Kelsi Custer and Triton sophomore Alexandra Kann each advanced to this weekend’s New Prairie Semistate. In the boys race, Fahs-Brown finished fourth in a time of 17:02, while Custer was ninth (20:17) and Kann was 11th (20:45), which was good enough to advance with top 15 finishes.
