NAPPANEE - Wilbur T. Kaufman, 73, of 8500 W. CR 1100N, Nappanee, died at 3:13 p.m. June 13, 2009, in Elkhart General Hospital.

He was born Oct. 18, 1935, in Nappanee, to Henry A. and Barbara Schmucker Kaufman. On Feb. 14, 1992, in Nappanee, he married Carolyn Mifflin, who survives.

A lifetime area resident, he was a truck driver and ASI certified mechanic. He attended Nappanee Missionary Church and served in the U.S. Army for six years. He was a former member of Nappanee American Legion.

Also surviving are three daughters: Debra (and spouse Bob) Schisler, Syracuse; Cindy Miller, Nappanee; and Tania (and spouse Tom) Wood, South Bend; four sons: Dennis Kaufman, Roger (and spouse Yvonne) Kaufman and Jeff (and spouse Laura) Kaufman, all of Nappanee, and Bobby Kaufman, Syracuse; a stepson, Louis Shabarekh, Nappanee; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Kaufman, Nappanee; and two brothers: Vernon (and spouse Lucy) Kaufman, Etna Green, and Irv (and spouse Vicky) Kaufman, Nappanee. He was preceded in death by an infant sister.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Nappanee Missionary Church Chapel with Pastor Norm Reimer officiating. Burial will be in Union Center Cemetery with military graveside services by the Nappanee American Legion.

Calling is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church and one hour prior to services at the church.

Thompson-Lengacher and Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, is in charge of arrangements.
