Warsaw Mayor Ernie Wiggins announced Monday he has appointed city councilman Jerry Patterson to Warsaw's Board of Public Works.
Patterson, serving his second council term, was originally elected to the city council in 1991. He said Monday he has been on other city committees, such as the Board of Zoning Appeals, Plan Commission and Park Board, and looks forward to serving on the Board of Works.
"I just want to promote accountability within all the (city) departments," he said. "I'm very conservative - I'll try to keep spending down."
The Board of Works is made up of the mayor and two council members: Patterson and Mac Silveus. The board meets at 8:30 a.m. the first and third Fridays of each month and handles the day-to-day operation of the city, as well as settling disputes between property owners and Warsaw's building inspection department.
Patterson will begin his service at Friday's board meeting.
