ELKHART - Wiegert "Bill" Veenstra, 69, Goshen, died at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 21, 2009, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 15, 1939, in Zijpe N.H., The Netherlands, to Wieger and Rena van Dijk Veenstra. On July 21, 1989, in Elkhart, he married Loretta B. Sutherlin, who survives.
He came to the United States of America in 1956. He was a truck driver for many years for Veade Industries, New Paris. He formerly worked for Glavel Corp., Elkhart. He enjoyed woodworking and was especially adept with a scroll saw. He also enjoyed doing needlework, photography and raising dahlia flowers.
Also surviving are three sons: Wiegert R. "Bill" Veenstra, Goshen; Carl (and spouse Kathy) Rensberger and Darrel (and spouse Tina) Rensberger; a daughter, Tina Reist, Sharlotte, Mich.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Henry Veenstra.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Blessing House at the First Brethern Church, 5815 Ind. 15N, Goshen, with John Veenstra officiating. Cremation has taken place with Billings Funeral Home, Elkhart.
