On Halloween this year, my brother took his two sons trick-or-treating over on Fort Wayne Street in Warsaw. They were walking down the street when two older boys ran by them and stole my nephew's candy right out of his hands.
Like any parent would do, my brother chased the boy to retrieve the candy. The boy was scared enough and dropped the bag after a short chase. On his way back to his family, a neighbor lady started questioning him about the incident and ended up calling the police on him. The police found my brother and gave him a long lecture about what he did.
Honestly people, who's at fault here - the boys who stole or the parent trying to get back what was his? If the kids think they can get away with things like that now, what do you think they will do when they get older?
Halloween is a time to have fun and dress up in costumes. Not a time to let your kids run wild and do whatever they want. I would be ashamed if my children were to behave like that, and shame on the police for not catching the guilty.
