SOUTH WHITLEY — The Whitko girls soccer team closed out its regular season with a 1-1 draw against Whitley County rival Columbia City Wednesday. Playing on their home field, the Whitko Lady Wildcats (2-11-2) led 1-0 at the half, but gave up a goal in the second, leading to the knotted score at the end of 80 minutes. Whitko had 11 shots in the match, with junior Mady Overmeyer’s getting into the back of the net off assists from Reghan Craig and Heather Bryan. Defensively, Ilyssa Bennett had 13 saves in goal. With the regular season over, the Lady Wildcats will now prepare for their sectional matchup against South Adams Monday at the Fort Wayne Sport Club at 5 p.m.
