Whitko's Win Leads Football Roundup

SOUTH WHITLEY — The Whitko football team notched its first win of the season Friday at home against Southwood.
Opening its Three Rivers Conference season against the Southwood Knights, the Whitko Wildcats tallied 454 total yards in a 42-20 victory.
On the ground, Tanner Hughes amassed 132 yards and a score on 23 carries, while Devin Garding had 109 rushing yards a and a score of his own.
In the air, quarterback Alex Stoddard needed to pass the ball just five times, completing three for 109 yards and two touchdown passes to Connor Stouder.
Whitko will look to string together a pair of TRC wins when it visits Manchester this Friday.

The 0-3 Trojans host Bremen Friday.

Friday in Syracuse
The Wawasee football extended Northridge’s losing streak to 14 games Friday night in Syracuse, but just barely. After giving up a touchdown, as well as a two-point conversion, with a minute to go in regulation, Wawasee came back to win 24-23 in overtime. In the win, Wawasee quarterback Gage Rheinhard completed 12 passes for 202 yards. The Warriors travel to Concord this Friday.
