Whitko Welcomes Board MembersLARWILL – Whitko School Board welcomed two new members and elected officers during its 2019 reorganizational meeting Monday.
Bill Patrick and Scott Wrestler were sworn in by Amy Christoffel, assistant to the superintendent and school board. They replace outgoing members Jorell Tucker and Eric Trump.
All five board members had attended a day-long training session prior to the public meeting. Boards typically receive briefings to acquaint them with the duties and responsibilities of serving on a school board.
Board members will be compensated $2,000 per year and an additional $27 per meeting.
All of the 2019 officers were elected unanimously: Carrie Hoffman, president; Matt Long, vice president; and Georgia Tenney, secretary.
Board meetings will continue to be held on the third Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Larwill location. Meetings are open to the public; however, the meetings are held for the purpose of conducting the school board’s business and not to be considered public community meetings.
Appointments made during the session were as follows: Shannon Ebbinghouse, treasurer, and Vicki Camden, assistant treasurer. Ebbinghouse also was named as purchasing agent.
Additional appointments included naming Ebbinghouse and Superintendent Dr. Brandon Penrod as HIPPA privacy co-officers, John Whiteleather as school board attorney and Georgia Tenney as the board liaison to the Indiana School Board Association.
A short board of finance meeting was held as well to elect officers. Patrick was elected president, Matt Long was named vice president and Wrestler was named secretary.
The next school board meeting will be Jan. 21 at the junior-senior high school auditorium in Larwill.
