Whitko Track And Field Teams Lead Local Roundup

SOUTH WHITLEY — The Whitko boys and girls track and field teams each took second place at Thursday’s Whitley County Meet.
Taking place at Whitko, the Churubusco Eagles won the boys meet with 87 points, while the host Wildcats had 42 and Columbia City finished with 38.
In the girls meet, the Columbia City Lady Eagles won with 84, followed by Whitko (40.5) and Churubusco (39.5).
Whitko senior Connor Stouder won the 100 (11.1), 200 (23.1) and 400 (52.5) and junior Brady Herendeen took first in the long jump (19-1.75).
For the girls, senior Josie Sparks won the 400 (1:03.09) and 200 (28.26).
The Whitko teams are back in action April 11 at home against Rochester.

Thursday in North Manchester
The Manchester boys and girls track and field teams each captured home wins Thursday night against Central Noble. Winning 10 of the 15 events, the Manchester boys won 82-40, while the Lady Squires also won 10 events, getting the 79-43 victory. For the boys, junior Brodi Carter won three events, including the high jump (5-4), the 110 hurdles (17.29) and the 300 hurdles (46.7). The Lady Squires received a pair of individual wins from senior Niki Frieden, who took first in the discus (88-11) and shot put (29-4.5). The Manchester track teams are at Rochester Tuesday for a Three Rivers Conference meet, along with Wabash.
