PIERCETON - Whitko schools will have three new buses next year after the school board on Monday approved spending $151,171 for the buses.
The buses will cost a total of $162,984, but with trade-ins, the total will be reduced to $151,171, said transportation director Mike Sands.
The Freightliner buses will be purchased from Kerlin Bus Sales, which was the only company to submit a bid.
Sands also said the buses will be seat belt-ready, but will not be equipped with seat belts unless required by the state.
In other business, the board accepted petitions comprising 125 signatures of patrons supporting the proposed renovation projects for the schools. Fifty or more signatures are required to establish a need for the project.
A hearing on the lease for the proposed renovation project will be held at 6 p.m. Aug. 26 in the administration building.
