PONETO – Whitko scored early and often in Game 1 to win 7-2, then used a big inning in Game 2 to sweep Southern Wells in a pair of non-conference baseball games Saturday. The second game favored the Wildcats 11-1. In the first contest, the Wildcats scored in every inning but the second and third. Single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings, and a pair of tallies in the seventh provided the winning margin. The nightcap saw Whitko score nine runs in the third and fourth innings to salt the win away. Tanner Gaff homered in the first game, and doubled in the second game. Riley Anderson reversed the feat, and Zach Snep doubled and tripled in the second game. Whitko gets right back on the road, traveling to Denver to face North Miami this afternoon.
