Whitko Singers To Compete At State Saturday SOUTH WHITLEY?– On Feb. 6, Whitko Jr./Sr. High School's auditorium was filled with the sounds of song from Whitko choirs in grades 6-12.
Dawn Hinthorn was the master of ceremonies. She led the Whitko choirs to receiving multiple Gold medals at ISSMA with consistency. This year, she hopes it will be no different as she leads six students to ISSMA as well as the Whitko Chamber Ensemble.
Holly Hathaway, a senior, is one of the six solo acts performing at ISSMA on Saturday. She also will sing in the Chamber Ensemble. When asked why she sings, she said, "Music is a way to relax from whatever is happening in life."
Sam Rickerd, Whitko valedictorian, said, "I have absolutely loved having the incredible opportunity to represent Whitko at these contests and I can’t wait to see everyone do well at state.” This is Rickerd's fifth year competing at ISSMA.
Madison Dyck is a 2018 ISSMA Gold recipient. When asked about competing this year, she said, "I've been a part of choir all of my life. Music holds a special place in my heart, and it's a blessing to go to state again."
Whitko students listed attending ISSMA as solo performers will be Hathaway, Lizz Foutz, Madison Dyck, Rickerd Isaiah Huber and Queinton Ray.
