Whitko Seeks More Feedback On Potential High School Renovations

Posted

PIERCETON - For the Whitko High School improvement study, the school board and administration wants more feedback about what renovations are needed at the 33-year-old school.

Taxpayers, concerned citizens and anyone else interested in providing information can visit online at www.whitko.org and fill out the facilities study survey.

"We're going to keep this survey open to May 31," said Jeff Hendrix, Whitko Schools superintendent.

He said the survey will help compile a list of what needs to be done at WHS. The information will be gathered, reviewed and prioritized June 6 when the school board meets with the architect.

Last week, the school corporation held three public meetings for people to discuss the high school.

"I thought we got a lot of good information," said Hendrix. Those at the public meetings hit on many of the same items students and staff also brought up. While disappointed there were not more people at the meetings, Hendrix said the information received was good. Once the work is prioritized and they start talking dollar figures, Hendrix said more people likely will come out with their input.

"We've got to gather as much information from the taxpayers and community as we can," he said.

The Web site will allow people to give their input from the convenience of their homes.
