Whitko Schools Awards Student Of the Month

Austin Nettrouer – Whitko High School: Nettrouer was nominated by principal David Parker and teacher Ben Ogden. According to the release, Nettrouer is a model student and a joy to have in class. He is an extremely hard worker and does not stop until completely finishing a job. He is heavily involved with the school and still keeps high grades. He goes out of his way to help others, even when there in no reward involved. When asked to tutor others without any benefits like extra credit, he said “I don’t need any of those things. If they (other students) get better, that’s thanks enough!”
Danielle Kelly – Whitko Middle School: Danielle is a pleasant student and her growth in interpersonal skills is excellent, the release states.
Ryan Rose – South Whitley Elementary School: Rose was nominated by teacher Jessica Long. He has shown great leadership in the classroom and on the playground by helping the school be a better place. For example, he initiated a club at recess to make the school safer. He has an amazing brain and a big heart, The release states.
Emma McClurg – Pierceton Elementary School: MCClurg was nominated by teacher Jessica Nettrouer. Nettrouer said that McClurg is a positive and happy child. She is always kind and helpful towards others. She is never seen without a smile. She is a hard worker who always strives to meet her goals. She recently grew four reading levels due to her determination to be a better reader. “I’m so proud of her, and honored to be her teacher,” Nettrouer said.
