Whitko School Board Reorganizes

PIERCETON – Whitko Community School Board of School Trustees held a reorganizational meeting Monday.
Superintendent Steve Clason started the meeting as temporary chairperson after the swearing in of Joe Begley and Georgia Tenney, who were elected to their seats during the 2012 general election; and Roger Boggs, who was reappointed to his position.
Jorell Tucker was elected board president; Deb Collier, vice-president; and Tenney, secretary.
A new meeting time of 6:30 p.m. was established for regular board meetings. They will still be held the third Monday of each month.
The annual board salary was set at $2,000 per year with a $27 per diem for all scheduled and additional meetings.
Tom McFarland was appointed treasurer, and Michelle Babcock as deputy treasurer. McFarland also was appointed purchasing agent.
John W. Whiteleather Jr. was approved as board attorney with an annual retainer fee of $1,000.
Boggs agreed to be legislative liaison to the Indiana School Boards Association.
The next regularly scheduled meeting is Jan. 21 in the administrative office.
