SOUTH WHITLEY – The Whitko annual phone-a-thon will take place March 12 from 4 to 8 p.m. The phone-a-thon helps raise money to award approximately 25 to 30 scholarships each year to graduating seniors of Whitko High School. Over $7,000 was awarded last year, and the goal this year is to surpass that figure. Pledge money helps with students’ tuition costs at post-secondary educational institutions. Scholarship applications can be obtained from the guidance office. During the phone-a-thon, 20 to 24 students make the calls in two-hour intervals to receive pledges for this year’s seniors. Pledges are tax deductible.
