On Nov. 6, Steve Clason, superintendent of Whitko Community School Corp., and teachers at Whitko Middle School will attend the 2009 National Middle School Association's 36th Annual Conference, "NMSA09 - Making A World of Difference."
In February 2008, the Indiana House of Representatives unanimously passed Resolution 28 encouraging superintendents to send their middle-level educators to the conference.
State Superintendent Dr. Tony Bennett and the Indiana Department of Education has granted all middle schools a waiver to attend this year's conference being held in Indianapolis Nov. 5-7.
Clason announced the students in grades 6 through 8 at Whitko Middle School will not be in school Nov. 6. In addition, there will be no extracurricular activities held at Whitko Middle School that day or evening.
Bus drivers have been advised that middle school students will not be riding Nov. 6. Drivers will be running their regular routes and will maintain their scheduled pickup/drop off points as much as possible.
