Whitko Makes Strong Showing At Vocal ISSMA District Contest

Posted
The Indiana State Music Association sponsors a vocal solo and ensemble contest each year and Whitko Middle School and Whitko High School sent some students to the contest.

The students are judged on intonation, tone quality, breathing technique, note accuracy, rhythmic accuracy, diction and enunciation, interpretation, musicianship and other factors. The difficulty at which the students are judged depends upon the number of years they have attended and the difficulty of their song selection.

Group V students are those attending for the first time with relatively easy music. Group I students are those students who have worked their way up from Group V over the years and sing very challenging music. Those students who participate in Group I who receive Gold ratings will attend the State ISSMA contest Saturday in Indianapolis.
