SOUTH WHITLEY – The Whitko Wildcats jumped out to a 7-0 lead en route to an 11-6 win over over visiting county rival Churubusco in high school baseball action Friday night. The Wildcats scored three runs in the first and two more in both the third and fourth innings to take control of the contest. Tanner Gaff got the win on the mound for Whitko. Ethan Nicodemus hit a double for the Wildcats. Whitko is now 6-1 on the season and hosts Garrett in a doubleheader today. Friday in Columbia City The Warsaw Tigers gave up 13 unanswered runs and fell 13-3 to the host Columbia City Eagles. Warsaw scored one run in each of the first three innings before the hosts tied the score with three runs in the bottom of the third. Columbia City scored six runs in the fifth to put the game away, and then added three in sixth to win via the 10-run mercy rule. Ethyn Bradley and Caleb Moneyheffer had two hits each for the Tigers.
