PIERCETON - Whitko School Board hired George Roth, South Whitley, as the new principal of South Whitley Elementary School Wednesday.
Roth replaces former SWES Principal Barb Flory, who resigned in July to take a position as superintendent of Argos Community Schools in Marshall County. A search committee reviewed 20 applications for the position and interviewed four top candidates before hiring Roth.
Roth, a 27-year resident of South Whitley, began his career in education in 1980 as a physical education teacher for Whitko Schools. To take the SWES position, he left a post as principal of Coesse Elementary School in Columbia City. Roth also worked in the DeKalb County Community School Corp. from 1992 to 2001, and as assistant principal and athletic director of Manchester High School from 1987 to 1992.
