NEW HAVEN — The Whitko girls track and field team will be represented in five events at Tuesday’s Fort Wayne Northrop Regional. Competing at Tuesday’s New Haven Sectional, the Whitko Lady Wildcats had six finishes in the top four, therefore moving on to regionals. Leading the Whitko pack were freshman Kaitlyn Reed and junior Elaine Warner, who each had a second- and fourth-place finish. Warner was second in the long jump, setting a new school record with a leap of 17-2.5. She was also fourth in the 300 hurdles, running the event in 49.98. In her first postseason, Reed was second in the high jump (5-3) and fourth in the 100 (13.51). Also for Whitko, Dana Hobbs finished third in the discus (101-5) and Miranda Terrill was fourth in the high jump (5-0). Homestead won the sectional with 148 points, followed by Bellmont (119), Fort Wayne Wayne (82), New Haven (64.5) and Whitko (53), rounding out the top five. BASEBALL Tuesday in Caston Scoring four runs in the first inning, the Tippecanoe Valley baseball team got a 10-7 win at Caston, Tuesday. Jay Myers was the winning pitcher and Eric Hammer had a 3-for-4 game with two RBIs, while Tanner Andrews and Alec Craig each had two hits in the victory. BOYS GOLF Tuesday in Goshen At Goshen’s Maplecrest Country Club, the 16th-ranked Warsaw boys golf team defeated Concord and Goshen Tuesday evening. Shooting a 165, the Warsaw Tigers improved to 5-2 overall and 4-1 in the Northern Lakes Conference, as Concord finished with a 173 and Goshen posted a 183 on its home course. In a balanced attack, Warsaw’s Jonny Hollar and Brandon Eckert each shot a 40 and Ryan Cultice posted a 41. Rounding out Warsaw’s scoring, Will Petro had a 44 and Michael Jensen recorded a 46. The Tigers wrap up their Northern Lakes Conference regular season Thursday at Meadow Valley Golf Club in Middlebury against Northridge and NorthWood. Playing on its home course, NorthWood finished with a 146, followed by Plymouth’s 153 and Wawasee’s 157. Wawasee was led by Cal Heinisch’s 36, but NorthWood’s Logan Kauffman was the medalist with a 35.
