SOUTH WHITLEY – For the second time in a week, Whitko High School’s varsity girls basketball squad fell to a top 10 team in Class 3A. The Lady Wildcats, who lost 50-47 at No. 9 Rochester on Saturday, hosted No. 7 Norwell Thursday night and lost 61-44 to the Lady Knights. Norwell, now 11-3 on the season after its eighth-straight win, led 20-9 after one quarter of play and also outscored Whitko in the other three quarters. With the loss, the Lady Wildcats fell to 8-7 on the season. Hanna Yohe led Whitko with 11 points, while Haley Yohe chipped in with eight points and Brianna Cumberland and Aly Reiff scored six and five points, respectively. Liara Isnogle and Stephanie Conrad led Norwell with 11 points each, while Mackenzie Sawyer chipped in with nine points, and Quinn Shelton and Hanna Smith added eight points each in the win. Whitko now goes on the road for four consecutive games, the first of which is Saturday at Three Rivers Conference rival Southwood.
