The Whitko High School Class of 2022 met for the first time together May 17 at the park in Pierceton for the annual Pen Pal Picnic. These third-graders from Mrs. Gawthrop’s class, Mrs. Kinney’s class and Mrs. Mohr’s class at South Whitley Elementary School; and Mr. Fitzsimmons’ class, Mrs. Garber’s class and Mrs. Underhill’s class at Pierceton Elementary School have been writing to each other all year. They started with an introductory letter, then wrote a three-paragraph letter about what they had been doing, and ended with a postcard. They have been anxious to meet and had a wonderful day eating lunch and playing at the park as they got to know each other. Many of these students will become close friends and are looking forward to seeing each other again in middle school.
