Whitko Career Academy – Work-Based Learning Student Spotlights

LARWILL – Whitko Career Academy recognized three seniors who have excelled in their work-based learning placements.
All three students are employed at Paragon Medical in Pierceton, where they have demonstrated strong work ethic, professionalism, and a clear vision for their future, according to a news release from Whitko Community Schools.
Preston Juillerat
Juillerat is completing the business pathway at Whitko Career Academy and plans to continue working at Paragon after graduation, hoping to move into full-time employment. He appreciates the positive work environment and the supportive team he works with each day. Juillerat’s responsibilities include counting parts, organizing orders for shipping and pulling block orders for machines. Through his experience, Juillerat has been able to directly apply skills from the business pathway, such as organization, inventory tracking and attention to detail, helping him see how classroom concepts translate into real-world business operations.
Caden Deneve
After graduation, Deneve plans to play college basketball while earning his degree. He values the supportive and professional environment at his job and enjoys learning from the people he works with. Through his work-based learning experience, Deneve has developed patience, adaptability and problem-solving skills. He has learned the importance of trying new things, even when they feel unfamiliar or challenging at first, and how persistence and a positive attitude can help him succeed both on the job and in life.
Hannah Moore
Moore completed the construction Pathway at Whitko Career Academy and plans to earn her Bachelor of Arts in Law and National Security at Regent University in Virginia, with the goal of commissioning as a naval officer. She enjoys the variety in her work, noting that each day brings new opportunities that strengthen her problem-solving skills. Her main responsibilities include changing filters and replacing gaylords, chip dumping and tank clean-outs and relocating machine parts while refilling oils and fluids. Hannah has learned valuable lessons about communication, teamwork, staying alert for safety, learning from mistakes and the impact a positive attitude can have on the workplace.
