Posted
FORT WAYNE — The Manchester and Whitko boys soccer teams were put into a tough sectional and had a tough time Wednesday at Fort Wayne Canterbury.

In the four-team sectional, Whitko fell 9-0 to Fort Wayne Concordia in the opening game, followed by Manchester’s 7-0 loss to No. 1 Fort Wayne Canterbury.

In their first year of IHSAA competition, Whitko was fired about 36 times by Concordia, with Jacob Helton posting 25 saves. Whitko’s season ended its season at 1-8-1.

Despite Manchester’s record-setting 13 wins this season, Manchester got the misfortune of drawing the top-ranked team in Class 1A, and was outshot 21-3 in the loss.

Manchester goalkeeper Dylan Grossnickle did record eight saves in the loss.
