SOUTH WHITLEY - The Whitko High School Art Department recently competed in the 40th World School Children's Art Exhibition in the Republic of China, Taipei.
Whitko was one of 10 schools representing the USA in the exhibition.In an effort to promote mutual understanding and friendship among the younger generation of the world, the Republic of China sponsored the 40th international art contest. The USA won three silver medlas overall with Whitko art students receiving two silver medals. They are Rebekah Brenneman and Jesse Warner.
In addition, the USA received 24 selected medals and out of those, Whitko students won six. They are Sarah Craft, Trapper Mize, Gabrielle Goodman, Audra Day, Kelly Kimberlin and Kate Hippensteel. The competition consisted of more than 53 countries competing from around the world.
Equally, Whitko students received two honorable mentions in the Yang Ming Second International Children's Painting Contest in China. Winners were Kendall Terrill and Trapper Mize.
