Whitko Announces Budget ReductionsDuring Monday night's Whitko School board, budget reductions to help make up for a $1.25 million shortfall were approved.
Tuesday those details were released to local media outlets.
When this school year ends, 11 teachers will be out of jobs at Whitko schools.
At Pierceton Elementary, the following teachers contracts weren't renewed:
- Melissa Ross
- Jessica Nettrouer
- Julie Klepinger
- Valerie Drudge
- Bethany Hall
- Megan Downs
South Whitley Elementary won't have Lisa Engle and Courtney Whitney back.
At the middle school, Erin Eastgate and Paula Shank weren't renewed.
At the high school, Chelsea Meyers wasn't renewed.
Ten teachers contracts were cancelled. Most of the positions were semi-permanent. Lisa Shisler and Laura Wiegold were permanent teachers at the elementary level whose contracts were cancelled.
At the end of this school year, seven teaching assistant positions will be elminated as well as four special education assistants.
Eight Whitko employees will have their hours reduced starting July 1.
