Whitko Academic Super Bowl Teams Bring Home Sectional Win

The Whitko Middle School Academic Super Bowl teams competed March 29 at Indian Springs Middle School and brought home the NELMSC Sectional trophy, competing against six other area schools. Scores from the five competing teams (math, social studies, science, language arts and interdisciplinary) combined to make the winning total. WMS beat six other area schools to accomplish this sectional victory. The social studies team, led by Andrew Layman, brought home a first place. Members are Alexis Fortman, Veronica Palmer, Lance Roberts, Aurelia Stephens and Cecilia White. The math team, consisting of Hannah Bredikhin, Layton Gregory, Jonathon Johnson, Lexie Schuman and Maddie Jo Schultz added second place points to the total. They are coached by Mike Hanback. The science team, with Tony Phillips at the lead, included Cole Bechtold, Rebekah Dixon, Sarah Palmer and Delaney Ray, and they also place second for the day. Placing fourth out of seven was the language arts team, Amie Fortman, LiaAmia Gregory, Gavin Parrett, Morgan Puterbaugh and Deanna Schockney, led by Betty Overdeer.
