Where is Ernie Wiggins - mayor of Warsaw? I ask that question when a new problem crops up in Warsaw.
What is his position on the new airport runway? What is his position on roundabouts in Warsaw? What is the best use for our rainy day funds? Would the old downtown National City building be of better use to draw people downtown versus a plush office for our city officials? What is his position on the new homeless shelter? Does demolishing a building for a parking lot create tax revenue, jobs and foot traffic downtown after 5 p.m.? Can we invite Meijers Superstore back to the City of Warsaw after approving Menard's, Martin's and Culvers in the same spot they wanted 10 years ago? How about a tent city for meth users? How about a Best Buy, Texas Road House, Old Navy and Barnes & Noble? What about a parking garage in downtown Warsaw? What about all the empty store fronts in Warsaw shopping centers? How about the long wait for the train to clear on Center Street with traffic tied-up? How about attracting new businesses besides orthopedic companies? How about some new restaurants that people have been asking for years? How are the weeds, long grass and potholes in Warsaw? How about the issue of spotty/dead cell phone coverage (911 & emergency, cell phone towers) here in progressive Warsaw? How about the half-mile jog around the hospital/medical complex just to get to the new U.S. 30/Culvers & Martin's Supermarket?
Overpasses, viaducts, parking garages, iPhones, drugs, homeless, and yes, mowing equipment, are all part of a bigger city. Warsaw, Indiana will never be a downtown Celebration, Fla. (Disney) - but again, they have problems, too.
