Warsaw Housing Authority has hired a new employee who will serve as a certified housing quality standard inspector for the organization.
Pam Kennedy, executive director of Housing Opportunities of Warsaw, informed WHA board members during Monday night's board meeting that Casey Casteel has been hired for the position.
Casteel will begin his duties today by assisting Kennedy with conducting section 8 rental inspections for Warsaw and Kosciusko County.
He also will assist HOW in expanding its weatherization kit program. The program helps cut heating costs in the winter for families.
Kennedy also informed board members WHA will begin administering Kosciusko County Housing Assistance Vouchers beginning July 8.
Kennedy said "Day of Caring" will be held Aug. 15.
Volunteers from Grace College, the community and local churches will provide repairs to homes of elderly, disabled and low-income homeowners in Kosciusko County.
Volunteers will work on tasks such as painting, trimming bushes and trees, cleaning out gutters and washing windows at homes in Claypool, Warsaw, Syracuse, Mentone and Burket.
Kennedy said volunteers are still needed to work on the homes.
Kennedy gave a WHA voucher program report for May and said 176 families are using the program.
Board members are Robert Kline, Karen Bober, Tammy Keirn, Melissa Francis, Joel Curry and the Rev. Stephen Austin.
The board will meet again July 23 at 5:15 p.m. at the WHA office.
