Westafer Leads Manchester To Big Win

WABASH -ÊHe's ba-ack.

After missing many minutes of playing time earlier this season with an injury, Manchester senior Dustin Westafer showed he's back in a big way when the Squires pounded Northfield 46-6 in the last game of the regular season.

Westafer lead the Squire offense, running the ball 14 times for 233 yards and four touchdowns. On the defensive end of the field, Westafer made eight tackles.

The Squires scored early and often, taking a 27-0 lead after the first quarter of play. At the end of the first half, Manchester held a 40-0 advantage.

Another injured player, Josh Staton, returned to kick four extra points and carry the ball five times for 22 yards in the Squire win.

Quarterback Joe Egner completed three passes for 111 yards and three touchdowns in the game.

Farron Gaerte caught one pass for 48 yards and a touchdown, while his brother Jennen Gaerte caught two passes for 63 yards.

The win improves Manchester's record to 5-4 on the season and 403 in the Three Rivers Conference.

The Squires travel to Monroeville Friday to play Heritage in the first round of the sectional.
