WEF Awards Nearly $15K In Red Apple Grants

Posted

The Warsaw Education Foundation (WEF) announced nearly $15,000 in Red Apple Grant funding was awarded to support innovative educational projects throughout Warsaw Community Schools during the 2025–26 school year.
The Red Apple Grant program provides educators with an opportunity to bring creative, hands-on learning experiences and resources into their classrooms — projects that may go beyond what traditional school funding can provide, according to a provided news release.
This year’s funded projects supported students across a wide range of learning experiences, including literacy, science, STEM, social-emotional learning, entrepreneurship, service learning and career readiness.
Among the projects supported were:
• Cards and Craft Business — Gateway Educational Center:
Students develop and operate a small business creating and selling cards, crafts, T-shirts and cups while building skills in inventory management, production, customer service, money management and delivery.
• Brewing Kindness — Jefferson:
Students create and market a custom coffee blend while developing business, communication, math and marketing skills and using proceeds to support families in need.
• Weather Station — Warsaw Community High School:
Students in Meteorology gain experience collecting and analyzing real-time weather data using professional weather equipment.
• Dissolved Oxygen Probes — Warsaw Community High School:
New laboratory equipment gives students hands-on opportunities to investigate environmental science, biology and chemistry concepts.
• Read and Rock — Lincoln Elementary:
A hammock garden provides students with a comfortable, calming environment to read, relax and develop positive reading habits.
• Little Listeners, Big Learners — Lincoln Elementary:
Yoto Players provide kindergarten students with a screen-free way to build listening comprehension, vocabulary, imagination, focus and self-regulation.
• Buddy Bench — Elementary School:
Students participate in lessons and activities centered on kindness, empathy, inclusion and positive peer relationships while creating a Buddy Bench for their school community.
• Tag It! — Edgewood STEM Middle School:
Students design and manufacture personalized pet or backpack tags while learning about engineering, production, quality control and real-world manufacturing processes.
Together, these projects demonstrate the creativity and dedication of WCS educators and the many ways Red Apple Grants can make a meaningful difference in students’ educational experiences.
“We are incredibly grateful for the educators who continue to find innovative ways to engage and inspire their students,” said Courtney Sale, executive director of the Warsaw Education Foundation. “The Red Apple Grant program allows us to invest directly in ideas that create meaningful learning opportunities for students throughout our schools.”
