Weekend Meth Busts Keep Cops Busy

Officers from the Kosciusko County Drug Task Force were busy this weekend making multiple methamphetamine arrests.

The first arrest came Saturday morning when Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department Cpl. Kevin Gelbaugh responded to an anonymous tip about a meth lab at 3160 N. Stoneburner Road, Warsaw.Around 4 a.m. Saturday, Gelbaugh went to the mobile home on Stoneburner Road and reportedly found the front door open. He also smelled a strong odor associated with the production of methamphetamine production.

Gelbaugh contacted members of the drug task force, and the officers went inside the home, where they reportedly discovered a meth lab.

Timothy Ray Ruggles, 36, of Stoneburner Road, Warsaw, was arrested for possession of an illegal drug lab. His bond was set at $10,000.

While on the way to the residence on Stoneburner Road, drug task force officers saw a man walking near the intersection of CRs 300E and 175N, Warsaw.

When they returned to the area, officers reportedly found Joshua Talbot Peace, 36, of Lincoln Road, Syracuse, in a field near an anhydrous ammonia tank used by farmers. Peace allegedly was stealing the anhydrous ammonia for use in future methamphetamine production.

Peace was arrested and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail for theft and his bond was set at $2,000.

Then on Saturday afternoon, KCSD Deputy Shane Bucher made a traffic stop that led to drug charges.

Bucher stopped a vehicle near the intersection of CRs 500E and 1100N for allegedly disregarding a stop sign.

During the stop, the driver, Shelly Jo Frailey, 44, of CR 900N, Syracuse, gave permission to search her vehicle, and Bucher reportedly found several precursors usually used to manufacture methamphetamine.

Bucher called the Kosciusko County Drug Task Force and officers went to the scene to secure the items.

Frailey was arrested and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail for manufacturing methamphetamine. She currently is being held without bond per the Kosciusko County Prosecutor's Office.
