NORTH WEBSTER - June 20 through 28 are the dates for this year's Mermaid Festival at North Webster.
Bob Richards of the North Webster Lions Club was at the town council meeting Wednesday with the annual request for road closures for the festival. Approval from the council must be given early so the club can get the necessary permits in time for the festival.
This year's festival will feature nightly entertainment, including performances by Spike and the Bulldogs, Thunder Road, and Biff and the Cruisers. Many surprises are also in store.
In other matters, the council:
4 Approved a franchise agreement with Triax Cable, subject to the town attorney's approval.
4 Discussed highway setback requirements for temporary signs. Town Marshal Jerry Craig said there are 19 rollaway signs along Ind. 13.
The next meeting is at 7 p.m. March 12 in the town hall.
