NORTH WEBSTER - Bids for asphalt and milling only for the fixing of drains and resurfacing of road on Crystal Flash Road were opened by the North Webster Town Council Wednesday.
The bids do not include piping or asphalt removal. Marshall Minnick, superintendent of public works, said the total project will cost $75,000 to $80,000 if the town approves all the project.
Approximately 2,275 feet of road from Crystal Flash Road from Ind. 13 to Mid-Lakes Drive will be repaved and drains fixed. A turn lane will be added at the intersection of Crystal Flash Road and Ind. 13.
Phend & Brown bid $41,020 total, but $40,595 if the town did their own sweeping. NiBlock bid $40,930, and $40,700 respectively.
Minnick reviewed the bids and recommended the council accept the Phend & Brown bid for $40,595. The council approved the bid if they decide to proceed with the project.
Due to the county replacing a culvert pipe on Crystal Flash Road, work will be delayed until the county is finished. Minnick said the work has to be done and the county is paying for the work out of their cumulative bridge fund.
In other business, the council held their budget hearing. There were no members of the public to remonstrate. The budget will be adopted Sept. 18 at 6 p.m.
Members of the town council include president Kay Andrews, Jeff Morgan and Ken Wagoner.
