Posted

The late Dutch Mullett was named North Webster's person of the year last night during the North Webster Chamber of Commerce annual banquet. Mullett was a sign painter who moved to North Webster in 1966. He served the community in various capacities as a member of the Lions Club and the American Legion. He was often called upon to create signs, banners and other types of artwork and painting that was needed by those organizations. He painted all of the portraits of the festival queens and the king of sports for the International Palace of Sports. He created the larger-than-life statues of knights on horseback and sports legends such as Jim Thorpe for the palace. He also did all the sign work pertaining to the Camelot facade of the town. Mullett died Jan. 29 at the age of 75.
