Webster Man Faces Child Porn Charges

A North Webster man was arrested and accused of looking at child pornography on his home computer.

James Lee Winters, 50, of 705 S. Linda Lane, North Webster, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday and faces Level 5 and Level 6 felony charges of possession of child pornography.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed Wednesday in Kosciusko Superior Court I, on March 20, 2019, Indiana State Police received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that there were eight tips associated with the same IP address in the uploading of child pornography.

Police received information from Microsoft that the child pornography was uploaded on Feb. 15, 2019, and that the IP address used was linked to a CenturyLink account in North Webster, according to court papers.

The investigation led police to the Linda Lane address and the account being in Winters’ name. When police arrived at the home, according to court papers, they spoke with Winters who said he does look at adult pornography online and he does click on the links underneath the videos, but that “the links have displayed some things he didn’t want to see and he would delete them right away.”

The affidavit states police confiscated Winters’ computer and located “multiple images of child pornography.”

Winters’ bond was set at $10,250.
