Webster Hosts Autism Workshop

Posted
The North Webster United Methodist Church was the site of the Play and Language for Autistic Youngsters on Sept. 29 and 30.

Dr. Richard Solomon, medical director for the project, located in Ann Arbor, Mich., was the featured speaker.

The workshop was presented and coordinated by the Bowen Center as part of the center’s overall initiative to develop local services for children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders and their families. The workshop was funded by contributions from the Kosciusko County Community Foundation, the K21 Health Foundation, and the Bowen Center.

Approximately 150 parents and professionals attend each day of the workshop. The program is available through the Bowen Center from both the Warsaw and Syracuse locations in Kosciusko County.

In addition the Bowen Center offers social skills groups for children between the ages of four and 18 with autism spectrum diagnoses. For more information, call Barbara Terry, project coordinator, at 574-267-7169 or 800-342-5633, ext. 3280 or by email via barbara.terry@bowencenter.org
